Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementing part or all of the technical solutions to the client by an agreed technical design.
- Occasionally responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions.
- Understands a broad spectrum of HPE technology to provide part or all of a detailed technical design which meets customer requirements. Often leads small to medium technical projects.
- Work with and under the direction of the Project/Technical Manager and with customer-nominated representatives.
- Liaises with Solutions Architect as appropriate.
- Provide technical support and input on the application of technology to a defined business segment.
- Provide advice on solution and integration opportunities to defined segments.
- Provide technical leadership on specific integration activities that are part of an engagement.
- Provide planning and design support for developing solution architectures implemented in a multiple-system environment.
- Communicating across the client community is viewed as adding value.
- Contributes to knowledge tools and communities and ensures project learnings are documented and shared.
- Role models Knowledge sharing and re-use within practice or profession.
- Proactively encourages membership and contributions of others to the professional community. Uses professions to meet the relevant certification and professional standards.
- Produces internally published material such as knowledge briefs, service delivery kit components or modules, etc
Required Skills:
For ONLINE and BATCH migration:
- Review the results of the source code inventory of the Mainframe system to be migrated.
- Ask the Inventory team for the reports and data relevant to the migration of the
Online/Batch applications:
- Analyze the Online/Batch subsystems of the Mainframe to be migrated.
- Match the requirements and needed functionalities with the ones covered by the destination platform and framework (usually, Micro Focus Enterprise Server). Identify and assess the gap.
- Design and implement the technical solution for the Online/Batch migration functionality gap and create the corresponding documentation.
For CODE migration:
- Perform the inventory process with HPE's automated tools (identify and classify all provided objects, reveal all inconsistencies and generate related reports).
- Generate required reports to analyze and design the different areas (Online, Batch, Code, Data).
- Design and implement the required transformations for the Code Migration and create the corresponding documentation.
For DATA migration:
- Review the results of the source code inventory of the Mainframe system to be migrated.
- Ask the Inventory team for the reports and data relevant to migrating the data files and databases.
- Analyze and Design the migration of the data files and legacy database (s) to the database in the new environment based on HPE's tools and processes, including code transformations and compilation of all the languages accessing the files and databases.
- Implement the technical solution for the Data migration and create the corresponding documentation.
- Perform internal testing for technical solutions.
- Support the functional testing of the whole migration solution. Analyse and solve the detected issues.
- Support the performance testing of the whole migration solution. Analyse and solve the detected issues.
- Perform the move to production activities.
- Support the Post-Go Live. Analyse and solve the detected issues.
Essential Skillsets
- 7+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (10+ years in total).
For ONLINE migration:
- 3+ years of experience in CICS migration involving IBM Mainframe zOS to Linux/ Unix/ Windows platforms
For BATCH migration:
- 2+ (5+) years of experience in Batch Job SW and Jobs migration involving IBM Mainframe zOS to Linux/Windows platforms
For CODE migration:
- 2+ (5+) years of PostgreSQL and Apache Tomcat experience is a MUST.
- 2+ (5+) years of experience with migrations of applications (e.g. Shell scripts, Java, C/C++)
For DATA migration:
- 2+ (5+) years of experience in Database and Data migrations, preferably IBM
- Mainframe zOS environments to Linux/Windows platforms
- Must have a certification for one of the Open Systems Databases (e.g. DB2 LUW, Oracle MS SQLServer, PostgreSQL)
- 3+ years of experience with programming C/C++, Java, COBOL, and Shell scripting is a must
- 2+ years of experience with Linux/Windows Systems is a must
- 2+ years of experience with Micro Focus (e.g. Visual COBOL & Mainframe Solutions)
- 2+ years of experience with DBs (Oracle, DB2, MS-SQL)
- 2+ years of experience in Project scoping, scheduling, estimating time/cost for deliverables, and documentation
- Must have at least one Industrial certification (e.g. Linux/Microsoft or Programing Language)
- Proficiency in English language skills
- Working knowledge of IBM mainframe zOS environment (online CICS/IMS, batch, security, scheduling, printing) and programming languages COBOL, Assembler (and ideally PL1)

- Ability to translate technical details into concise and easy-to-understand written form. Ability to write relevant components of a proposal document (e.g. answer specific RFP questions). Ability to translate verbal requirements from face-to-face client meetings into requirements documents, statements of work, and proposals.
- Able to discuss (within own area of expertise) requirements with a customer and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. From the requirements, able to develop a high-level design or plan and then estimate the effort required to deliver. Able to advise the engagement owner about the risks associated with this work package.
- Ability to work with a team to provide written responses to technical proposals or reports/documentation for delivery
Additional Skills:
